Technology Infrastructure Services
Technology Infrastructure Services(TIS) is a department within the Division
of Information Technology Services(ITS) at Case, under the direction of the
Chief Information Officer. TIS is responsible for the University
communications network, and a set of information resources and services.
TIS, headed by Director Jeff Gumpf, is responsible for the planning,
installation, operation, support, maintenance, and continuous improvement
of the University communications network. TIS provides high speed data,
video, voice, telemetry, control and monitoring communications services.
In addition, TIS is responsible for providing a set of campus-wide network
services (e.g. electronic mail and LDAP) and other information services as
well as their planning, installation, operation, support, maintenance, and
continuous improvement.
TIS is divided into smaller groups based on specific responsibilities
in the network infrastructure. Please follow the links to learn more about

Middleware
Services Engineering, David Kovacic, Manager
Middleware Services Engineering
is responsible for all services related to Authentication,
Authorization, and Access control, including data directory (LDAP) services
and management of Network IDs.
Network
Engineering and Security, Chet Ramey, Manager
Network Engineering and Security is responsible
for the wired (Ethernet) network infrastructure, the campus wireless network,
network security, and basic network services such as DHCP, the Domain Name
System servers, and remote access, including the campus connections to
external networks and VPN.
Server and Storage
Engineering, Brian Christian, Manager
Server and Storage Engineering
is responsible for centralized servers,
centralized disk storage, and network backup systems.
Network
Operations and Support, John Morton, Manager
Network Operations is responsible for many physical aspects of the network,
including the fiber and cable plant, SERs (network equipment rooms), and
faceplates.
Web Services, Ron Ryan, Manager
Web Services is responsible for the
main campus Web Servers
and the
MyCASE Portal systems. These
responsibilities include operations, maintenance, account administration
and developing emerging technologies. Web Services also works with many
departments to integrate their services into the campus Web environment.
Telephone Services, Dennis Risen, Manager
Telephone Services, managed by Dennis Risen, has overall administrative
responsibility for the University's telephony offerings: Voice over IP
(VoIP) and Centrex phones, accounts and billing, agreements with
cellular providers, and the voice mail system.
